About Me
At Towanda Doula I’m committed to creating a nurturing and inclusive environment for your pregnancy, birth, and postpartum experience. Pregnancy and birth are processes that deserve careful attention, requiring patience and trust that is built through consistent relationships, information, and unconditional respect. I believe information and openness build the utmost self-trust and my goal is for you to think of me as less of an instructor and more as an uplifting confidant with access to relevant information! This season of life comes with an influx of data, opinions, and emotional, physical, and mental changes. Everyone deserves access to accurate information throughout such a significant change in their lives.

As a doula and childbirth educator, I'm committed to walking with you to find the information you need. I'm dedicated to providing resources and support, ensuring you trust yourself and building the best support team around you and your family. "Towanda" is a word used in one of my all-time favorite movies, Fried Green Tomatoes, to represent utmost empowerment. My goal is for you to reach your own 'towanda' moments throughout your pregnancy and birth experience—for it to feel empowering and educational.
The space I strive to create is one that is open and comfortable to all people. There is no one person or ‘type’ of person who deserves less-than care. This includes single parents, people of color, LGBTQIA+, and teenage birth givers. Through valuable relationships with those communities I have and continue to educate myself on the effects of racism that continue to invade health care systems. I am a passionate advocate that every person should have healthcare experiences that are respectful and compassionate. Your support team should be non-judgemental, accessible, and all-inclusive.
I am on track for completion of DONA International's verified Birth Doula Certification, CD(DONA). As well as the International Childbirth Education Associations' Childbirth Educator Certification, ICCE (ICEA).

I was born and raised in Birmingham, AL and could not be more grateful for the vibrant community and culture all around Alabama. This appreciation grew after attending Colorado State University in Fort Collins, CO. There I learned the valuable lessons of what it takes to now build up my own community. I gained some of my best friends and mentors, met my incredible partner, and graduated with degrees in Graphic Design and Journalism.
Upon working in the creative industry I realized a strong desire to further pursue advocacy for women and reproductive rights, something I have always been passionate about. Some of my other passions include fiber arts, calligraphy, snowboarding, collaging, karaoke and really just about anything creative!
